Clean Up Australia Day 2023
Perfect sunny conditions greeted the 19 enthusiastic volunteers who showed up for our Clean Up Australia event at Ocean Grove on Sunday 5th March. Overall, we filled 10 large bags with rubbish collected from the foreshore and pathways between 13W & 15W. The main culprits were dog poo bags and dog poo!! We also collected about 800 cigarette butts and 60 nangs. …

Reflecting on 10 years of connections
Jackie Scully has been a committee member of Ocean Grove Coastcare since day one. Below she captures her reflection of the last 10 years.
Connection was what I was looking for when I moved to Ocean Grove a little over ten years ago. I was 25, fresh out of an environmental science degree and lured to the coast for lifestyle and love. I was ready to get my hands dirty, learn more about the coastal environment and meet like-minded people.
Fairy-Wren wants a wife
Over the last couple of weeks, some birds, such Spotted Dove, Little Raven and Australian Magpie, have been observed carrying nesting material, while a pair of Masked Lapwings were seen being ‘intimate’ together on a roof in Arcturus Rd. The pair of resident Black Swans at Begola Wetlands have built their nest in dense vegetation on the island and seem to be currently incubating eggs. Keep an eye out for cygnets in maybe a couple of weeks time!
